The Board of Directors of the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) recently appointed Michel Villiard as the IRCM’s ombudsman. This appointment will be effective as of January 1, 2019. He is replacing Robert Bisaillon, who has held this position since 2008.

Mr. Villiard is a human resources professional with extensive experience in various aspects of organizational effectiveness and psychological health in the workplace, such as work organization, management coaching and team work operations. Over the past 30 years, he has held multiple positions in these fields of expertise. He currently holds the position of ombudsman at Polytechnique Montréal three days per week.

Under the authority of the IRCM Board of Directors, the Ombudsman’s mandate is to receive intervention requests, as a last resort, from researchers, employees and students of the Institute who consider that the IRCM’s administration or a person in authority has reported a decision on them that appears unfair or inequitable. If so, he may make suggestions, assess the merits of the complaint and, if necessary, will conduct an investigation, and forward recommendations to the competent authorities.

Mr. Villiard is available once a month. It is therefore suggested to make an appointment. He can be reached by email at or and at 514 987-5515. His office is located in room 105.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Bisaillon for his ten years of service.
