Faces of the IRCM – Yves Côté

Yves Côté, assistant, Papilles et molécules
A smile behind the scenes of our cafeteria

NB: This series of encounters highlights the diversity of the members of the IRCM community, the variety of their expertise and the depth of their commitment to their respective roles

He never puts himself in the limelight, working from 7:30 a.m. in the back of our Papilles et molécules cafeteria. In fact, you have to bend down to catch a glimpse of him at work in the kitchen and say hello. But it's well worth the effort, as the attentive visitor will be rewarded with the friendliest of smiles, enough to brighten up your morning coffee. A discreet and affable figure, Yves is busy with a multitude of tasks that go unnoticed but are nonetheless important in this service.

Yves Côté is the behind-the-scenes employee who helps his colleagues in the cafeteria to offer us a continuous supply of food, in a clean and orderly environment.

‘’Yves has been here a long time, so he knows how things work," says Jorge, a kitchen assistant.

While he now works for Compass, the company that recently took over management of our food services, Yves worked for Sodexo for a long time - no less than three decades, in fact. There, he supported Chef Chantale, whom many of you know. Yves has been working at IRCM since 2021. Trained at a hotel institute, he enjoys the multidisciplinary and varied aspect of his work, and the exchanges with cafeteria customers, as well as with his colleagues.

‘’Yves is a very loyal person, always present. He's a reserved person, but once you get to know him, he's a lot of fun, and very pleasant," concludes Karine, head cook.

Thank you, Yves, for your smiling presence!
