The IRCM is proud of its up-and-coming scientists who, year after year, stand out in the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) competitions.
In 2024, four of them will be awarded a doctoral or a postdoctoral scholarship as part of this prestigious pan-Canadian competition, following a rigorous peer-review process based on excellence.
- Samantha Boudreau, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Michel Cayouette, was awarded a CIHR doctoral fellowship for her project entitled Uncovering the role of Podocalyxin-like protein (Podxl) in photoreceptor cell polarity and function.
- Dennis A. Drewnik, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Frederic Charron, was awarded a CIHR Doctoral Fellowship for his project entitled Uncovering the Molecular Mechanism of Neuronal Cell Migration in the Cerebellum.
- Sara Luiza Banerjee, a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Artur Kania's laboratory, was awarded a CIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship for her research project entitled Understanding How Abnormal Intracellular Signalling Causes a New Neurodevelopmental Spectrum Disorder.
- Vanesa Jimenez-Amilburu, a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Frederic Charron, was awarded a CIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship for her research project entitled A Role for Arhgef7 During Cerebellar Development.
