Dr. Alain Fischer holds the chair of Experimental Medicine at the Collège de France and is the head of the Imagine Institute, a research and healthcare institute dedicated to curing genetic diseases. He is an internationally acclaimed researcher in the field of gene therapy, especially renowned for his work on the development of the lymphoid system, primary immunodeficiencies, and the genetics of immunological disorders.
Director of the Hematology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases department at the Hôpital Necker from 1996 to 2012, Dr. Fischer has been honored with many prizes, including the Japan Prize (2015), the Koch Prize (2014), the INSERM Grand Prize (2008), and the Halpern Prize. Officer of the Légion d’honneur, he is a member of the French Academy of Sciences and of the French National Academy of Medicine. Dr. Fischer serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals, including International Immunology and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He serves on the editorial advisory committee of Immunology Reviews and served on the committees of PLOS Medicine and of EMBO Molecular Medicine.
