The RNA Biology Research Unit, led by Dr. Eric Lécuyer, is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to develop expertise in RNA biology and therapeutics.
Our laboratory combines diversified methods in cellular and molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics to i) study the mechanisms of intracellular RNA transport, ii) understand their dysfunction in the context of diseases, and iii) leverage this knowledge to innovate new therapeutic approaches.
The ideal candidate should possess good knowledge in molecular biology, biochemistry, and genomics. Their level of involvement in projects and techniques used will depend on the team's objectives, which evolve in a highly dynamic and competitive environment.
Therefore, they must communicate effectively with laboratory staff and scientific collaborators. Finally, they must ensure that work is always carried out in line with the team's research objectives.
Summary of responsabilities
- Contribute to the team's research projects by taking charge of different sub-objectives of ongoing projects;
- Develop and apply various genomics and molecular and cellular biology techniques;
- Participate in data analysis and results, including preparing figures and materials for manuscripts and presentations;
- Contribute to managing orders, writing ethical documents, and other related technical tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the laboratory;
- Supervise junior laboratory members;
- Perform other related tasks required by the Laboratory Director;
Required qualifications
- Completed B. Sc. or M. Sc. studies in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field;
- 3 years in-depth experience with basic methods in molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry;
- Expertise in genomics, transcriptomics, or the development of screening assays with cellular models is an asset;
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset;
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada;
