Exploring new avenues to develop tomorrow’s medical knowledge through an approach that integrates basic and clinical research
Our research units are led by principal investigators who collaborate in a spirit of collegiality and with the vision of bridging the gap between research and patients. They train the next generation of scientists and are independent and creative minds who work tirelessly to improve health.
Alexis Baass, Director, Lipids, Nutrition and Cardiovascular Prevention Clinic
The health care professionals at the genetic lipids and dyslipidemia clinic assess and treat patients with high blood cholesterol and/or triglyceride levels and genetic lipid diseases. Dr. Baass' research team studies the nutritional, biochemical, genetic, molecular, and pharmacological aspects of genetic dyslipidemias (among others, familial hypercholesterolemia, chylomicronemia syndromes and dysbetalipoproteinemia) to improve the screening, diagnosis, and treatments of these diseases. Which allows them to offer personalized care and reduce the associated cardiometabolic complications.
