Michel Cayouette, winner of a Research Recognition Award from the Université de Montréal

The Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is delighted to congratulate one of Quebec's leading vision health researchers, Dr. Michel Cayouette, also a full professor at the Université de Montréal, on receiving the Prix Reconnaissance en recherche (fundamental/mid-career component) from the Université de Montréal Faculty of Medicine.

Director of the IRCM's Cellular Neurobiology Research Unit, as well as Director of the Réseau de recherche en santé de la vision, of the FRQS and Chief Scientific Advisor for Fighting Blindness Canada, Dr. Cayouette and his teams regularly make a name for themselves by publishing high-impact scientific works that play a major role in advancing knowledge of eye diseases and developing new therapies.

‘’Our work is aimed at discovering how the nervous system develops, and using this information to develop cell therapy approaches to regenerate nerve tissue in various neurodegenerative diseases. Science bears the fruits of healing, and through collaboration with other research teams, we are determined to reap the benefits, for the benefit of patients' health. I am very grateful to the Université de Montréal for encouraging us with this award.’’ - Michel Cayouette

Dr. Jean-François Côté, President and Scientific Director of the IRCM, welcomed the award, underlining Michel Cayouette's unfailing commitment to research, but also his human side and his spirit of collaboration within the Institute.
