Effects of exercise on blood glucose in post-menopausal women with type 1 diabetes

Original Title

Blood glucose responses to moderate and resistance exercise in post-menopausal women living with type 1 diabetes: The PMmod study

Brief description

The IRCM clinic is looking for participants to take part in the PMmod research project. Our study, led by Dr. Jane Yardley, aims to investigate how blood glucose changes during aerobic exercise and resistance exercise compared to a day where no exercise is performed. We will look at changes in blood glucose during and after exercise.

This study involves 5 visits to the IRCM that will take place over a maximum of 5 months.

  • Medical visit: The first visit will be used to sign the consent form, meet the medical doctor (in person or virtually) and document your medical history. This visit will last approximately 30 minutes.
  • Admission visit: The second visit will be used to answer questionnaires and perform a few tests. This visit will last approximately 2.5 hours.
  • Visits 3, 4 and 5: The intervention visits will involve performing a walk on the treadmill, resistance exercise or rest. Each visit will last approximately 2.5 hours.
