Comparison of two diets for the treatment of severe hypertriglyceridemia
The IRCM clinic is looking for patients with very high blood triglyceride levels (severe hypertriglyceridemia) to compare the effect of a low-fat diet to a low sugar diet on triglyceride reduction. Each participant will have to follow the two diets in random order, for a period of three weeks each. Menus and recipes will be provided for these two diets, as well as compensation for parking fees related to the visits. In addition, a nutritionist will be available throughout your participation in the study.
The study is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sophie Bernard, Director of the IRCM Lipids Clinic.
Men or women, 18 years old or over
Have already had a triglyceride value equal or higher than 10 mmol/L
This study involves four visits over an 11-week period and two telephone follow-ups.
